I'VE GOT IT!

Posted on Jul 20th, 2006 by DezinerGirl : Peace Maker DezinerGirl

Yep, that's right, I've got it ALL figured out!

While the number 42 may be the answer to life, the universe and everything,  I have discovered ONE thing the number 42 cannot address,  and that is THE cause for mental disorders such as dementia, schizophrenia (NOT multiple personality disorder) and Alzheimer's, to name a few.

Before I go any further, I will first apologize to anyone who may be offended by this post.  I know I'm treading in murky water here, and as a result, what I type may not be clearly understood.  I have no statistics, no double blind studies, no charts, graphs nor anything scientific to support my 'opinion' as I will call it, for now.

No, my opinion comes from my recent, up close and personal, experiences working with the elderly in long term care facilities.  A common thread among MANY, (approximately 98% of MY caseload), is this unwavering belief that their illness is due to,  'satan taking over my body' and 'being paid back for my past sins'.

So here goes, in MY OPINION, it is the fundamental, ultra-conservative, guilt-ridden, fear-based ideology of organized religion that is the cause for the break down and deterioration of mental functioning. Quite a mouthful, I know!

When my husband passed away three years ago after a lengthy and difficult course with diabetes, it was his uncle (who is an ordained Baptist minister, has lived as a missionary on the Ivory Coast of Africa for the better part of 30 years) who spoke at his funeral and SAID, "death and illness are the result of SIN"!  I about died myself when I heard that!

I am NOT talking about a belief in God, Jesus, Allah, All That Is...no, I'm not talking about religion,  as in a belief system, but rather a system that instills un-natural and un-necessary guilt.  And unfortunately, people have been taught (badly taught) that they are incapable of correct reasoning and therefore must be scared into doing 'what is right'. Hence, all the fire fanning with the Bible waving that goes on every Sunday morning.  Sin, and you will go directly to hell.  Ask for forgiveness, but no one is taught WHAT forgiveness is.  Trials and tribulations are the price for sin.  There is no way out!  Of course this will make you loose your mind!

The more I read A Course In Miracles, the clearer it becomes, that the past and current misinterpretation of the Bible IS insanity, and only result of 'insane' teaching is....insanity.

So there.... I said it.

And I've turned my fan down to 'low speed'!

hi Alexis,

I agree with you: toxic thoughts create toxic energy, which creates a toxic body

and healthy thoughts create healthy energy, which creates a healthy body

I don't think this is the only thing that contributes to health or dis-ease, but I think it's a much bigger factor than most people acknowledge

many people hear this and think of it as a blaming-the-victim thing, but I definitely don't mean it that way – for me it means that humans accumulate toxic thoughts and beliefs through the process of growing up and living in society, and we each have a “cosmic assignment” to learn how to shed that toxicity and find a way back to our true nature – for me, this is the essence of the life journey

by the way, a terrific book on forgiveness: How Can I Forgive You? by Janis Abrams Spring – it dispels a lot of myths about what she calls “cheap forgiveness” (premature forgiveness to avoid conflict or to conform to an unrealistic ideal of what a good person is) and provides awesome tools for real forgiveness

As Kira well knows, I habitually argue for environmental/physiological sources for disease (seek the simple answer first), so I'll play devil's advocate.

I'd argue that what you are seeing is the reality of organic disease (which has many layers and sources of causation) filtered through a mythic/authoritarian religious framework, not the other way around. This is how they interpret what is happening to them in the absence of any ability to do otherwise – they filter their reality through the lens they are most comfortable with.

What you describe (all the bible thumping and threats of hell, etc, etc) is Christianity's virus protection – all successful memes have good virus protection to prevent their carriers from adopting other memes that might compete with or reject the current meme.

As another example, political correctness is the postmodern/relativist meme's virus protection. Any speech or action that ranks, labels, categorizes or otherwise “limits” people is considererd out of bounds – it keeps its carriers safe from new ideas or ideas that threaten their worldview. The thing about good virus protections is that they can seem so valid when seen from the inside, which is why Christians buy into hell and the Mean Green Meme buys into politcal correctness.

But, on the other hand, my virus protection might simply be one that makes me use a memetic framework for looking at the world rather than letting it simply be what it is without any need to interpret it and categorize it.

Peace,
Bill

What I've come to acknowledge concerning the causation of any problems in this world are issues of the mind.  The mind of course being the center point of projecting that within consciousness and; consciousness the messenger bearer of that which the soul retains of dualism.  Imagination is the building architect for established thought, and finalization of thoughts is manifested as the results herein spoken of as issues of health, death, sin, and the likes.

Every occurrence in man's life happens in the mind first, and manifest to be man's beliefs and knowledge of his thinking.  Regardless of what one may assume, what one send out by way of thought, whether considered good or evil, returns to the sender by way of thought because that thought sent forth has no other home but the home it was born in; and that is the mind of the sender.  No one else can house any man's thought in exactness, because other men are also a finalized return to the sender of the senders interpretation.

There are no disease, sins, death, birth in infinity.  All these things occur in the conscious mind formation of man.  And it has been established that man is a physican that can heal himself of anything the mind projects to him.  It is also a truth that man can walk out of this world with his body.

Oh, I am just rambling, forgive me.
